A hybrid bike for all intents and purposes is a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike; taking the majority of the transmission and steering components from the mountain bike with the larger wheels and slicker tyres from a road bike (although it is most common for the tyres to be thicker than road bikes). Offering a more upright and comfortable riding position most suited for day-to-day activities, the result is a comfortable cycling machine that can be used both on and off road.
